Its history dates back hundreds or even thousands of years ago. The four most commonly used stones for this type of flooring are slate, limestone, granite and marble. Out of these four, granite is obviously the sturdiest one. What many people also do not know is that it is possible to find stone flooring in many different colors and patterns.

Each of the previously mentioned stones will naturally have their own faults as well as plus points. Deciding on one will depend entirely on the taste and budget of the person buying it.
As mentioned earlier, granite stone flooring is the toughest of them all. It is difficult to damage a floor made with this type of stone, and it is easy to maintain. On the down side, if it happens to get damaged in any way, it is also the most difficult to repair.

Slate is perhaps the easiest of them all to work with. This is because it is quite soft, and breaking them into desired shapes is no big deal. Lime stone and marble are relatively soft, but have an entirely different molecular composition. What this means is that it is easy to polish and get the desired luster.
